Alleged Terrorists Arrested by the Feds

Apparently there was gonna be a big terrorist event and the CIA figured out who was involved. Allegedly. They haven’t released a tremendous amount of information. The good news is that now that these people have been on the news, it will be that much harder for the CIA to detain them indefinitely if they turn out innocent. Could be worse for them, if they were nailed by the DHS I can’t imagine anyone ever seeing them again.

I thought I wouldn’t get to put an article from FOX in here at all, which saddens me greatly, as its point of view is biased opposite from most other news sources. They finally got their story in during my research process, which cuts things kinda close, seeing as the events detailed took place more than 6 hours ago.

Obama to preside over Israeli-Palestinian Peace Talks

As always, Palestine and Israel are staring each other down, estimating their chances of survival in an all out war to wipe the other guy out. Y’know, “KILL THE BUGGERS” and all that. So master of elocution and current U.S. president Barack Obama is going to play referee and try to get them to finally get along. I have my doubts how much he can help, but it’s certainly worth a shot.

If it feels like I do too much politics, keep in mind that I specialize in conflicts of opinion and dueling slant. It’s the reason I think democrats and republicans ought to be the best of friends: who better to point out the flaws in our reasoning than the people who fundamentally disagree with us?

RSS Feed should work properly by tomorrow

The feature that really inspired this blog is the ability to open all the stories at once. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the script I built, it doesn’t work in the RSS feed. Forsooth, Sunday is the day that this shall be righted once and for all!

So I’ll do that, make a batch or two, and add an avatar upload interface to dlcgamereviews.com. Hopefully I’ll have time to finish up the score I’ve been working on for the school drama class, so I can finally really start writing “Sunshine.”

Apple rejects Google Apps, then denies it repeatedly

I’m not really an Apple fan, but only because of OS X. Their hardware is generally top-notch, and anything they make that’s mobile… well, good luck getting one until a week after the release. Still, the app submission process seems at times arbitrary (if not corrupt), and their interactions lately with Google reek of “Extraordinarily Bad Idea.” Have a taste of the recent negative PR here.

ACORN versus the Prostitution Ring

There’s been plenty of talk about whether ACORN is corrupt, and it pretty much comes to a head here.

On a personal note…

Today was a very weird and wonderful day. School is on an upturn from “totally lame” to “I’m becoming a responsible human being, yay me.” Of course, that’s more of a general trend. Today-specific stuff would be more like successfully avoiding Stalker Kid for all of 2nd period, not having to go to ROP or dance today (I love dance class but it always sneaks up on me when I’m doing other stuff), and, with a little encouragement from Mrs.Hartt, starting up this bloggy thingy.

Of course, that’s not really big enough news for me to type up a whole entry about myself. The big news is about my Uncle Larry. He’s sworn up and down for years and years and years that he will never get married. Mom asked him once what kind of woman he would theoretically date, and he hadn’t really thought about it. So imagine our reaction when he called us this morning as we were on the way to school, informing us that he had been dating a lovely lady we’d never met. She has a kid, too, and apparently he’s pretty smart. If you don’t know Larry Hicks, I cannot convey the Twilight Zone-iness with mere words.

Now, the secret dating was weird enough, but just this evening he called to say that he’d gotten engaged. Second date. Engaged. 10/10/10, which places it 15 days before my birthday next year.

Oh yeah, and Season 2 of Fringe premieres on Hulu tomorrow. That’s also pretty cool and exciting. Just throwin’ that out there.

…Yep.

Obama cuts the defense program that keeps Russia out of Poland

Sorry, Poles (and Czechs), better luck next time :(

I was hoping to get one from right-wing-biased FOX on the matter, but for something so easy to criticize, they’d done an awful slow job of writing up about it. No story from them available at the time of this writing. No matter, even some of the left-wingers are upset about it.
